Beaches at the southern tip of Corfu
One of them is at the bottom of our garden. The others are a walk, a short drive or a boat ride away — and they are not all the same kind of beach.
The beach below the garden
The sand runs straight along the front of the property, with sun loungers on it. It shelves gently and keeps shelving for a long way out, which is why families come back to this stretch: you can walk a long way before it reaches an adult's shoulders.
There is no road to cross to reach it.
Agios Petros, eight minutes away
A short walk north along the shore. The same sand, a different set of tavernas behind it, and quieter than the beaches nearer the centre of the village.
Arkoudilas, for something wilder
About 3 km south, where the coastline stops being flat. Cliffs, pines down to the sand, and a ruined monastery above it. It takes a little effort to get down to, and that is precisely what keeps it empty.
Go in the morning. There is no shade waiting for you and nowhere to buy water.
The ones you reach by boat
The best beaches in this part of the Ionian are not on Corfu at all. Antipaxos has water that does not look real in photographs, and the Blue Lagoon near Sivota is a day out rather than an afternoon.
Boats leave from Corfu Town and from Lefkimmi. We can arrange any of them, and we have two of our own for smaller groups.
