Getting to Kavos from Corfu airport
Kavos sits at the southern tip of the island, about 45 km from the airport. Here is every way to cover that stretch, and what each one is actually like.
By taxi, the direct way
Corfu International Airport sits just below Corfu Town, and taxis wait outside arrivals. From there the coast road runs south through Lefkimmi and into Kavos — roughly an hour, traffic depending.
It is the simplest option if you land late or are travelling with children and luggage. Agree the fare before you set off.
By bus, the slow way
The green KTEL buses leave for Lefkimmi from the terminal in Corfu Town rather than from the airport, so the first leg is getting into town. From Lefkimmi it is a short hop south to Kavos.
It is the cheapest way down the island and a pleasant one in daylight. Services thin out in the evening, so check the last departure before you commit to it.
By ferry from the mainland
Coming overland, ferries cross from Igoumenitsa to Lefkimmi in about an hour. Lefkimmi is the closest port to us — about 8 km, a quarter of an hour by car — and the road south from there is a straight run.
The other crossing lands you at Corfu Town. It runs more often, but it leaves you the full coast road to drive. With a car on board either works; Lefkimmi saves the most time.
