Paxos and Antipaxos by boat

Two islands in a single day: the harbours and cliffs of Paxos, the turquoise bays of Antipaxos. If you are holidaying on Corfu, this is the boat trip not to miss.

Paxos and Antipaxos by boat

Paxos: harbours, olives and cliffs

Paxos is a small, green island of olive groves, picturesque bays and crystal-clear water. One of the most striking parts of the trip is the Blue Caves: sheer cliff walls with the sea beneath them in shades of blue you rarely see anywhere else.

Most trips also leave time to explore Gaios, the island's harbour town: narrow lanes, tavernas, small shops and the unhurried feel of a Greek island.

Antipaxos: the Caribbean, nearly

Antipaxos is smaller still, and one of the natural treasures of the Ionian. With its white-pebble and pale-sand beaches and its unbelievably clear turquoise water, it is often compared to the Caribbean.

A swim in one of its bays is, for most people, the best part of the day.

What the day holds

A full day at sea. The exact route, the stops and where you swim depend on the boat you choose and on the weather, but this is roughly what to expect:

  • Wide sea views and unusual rock formations
  • The Blue Caves along the coast of Paxos
  • Swimming in turquoise water
  • Free time in a Greek harbour town
  • With luck, dolphins alongside the boat

Small boat or large boat

The Paxos–Antipaxos trip runs on boats of different sizes, so you choose the kind of day you want.

  • A small boat for up to 22 people — a more relaxed, sociable group
  • A large excursion boat for 150–200 people
  • One of the large-boat trips is guided in Hungarian
