An aparthotel is a hotel you can cook in. Here is what that means in practice, and how to choose between the two layouts.
What an aparthotel actually is
You get a serviced room with a reception, cleaning and breakfast, and you also get a kitchen. Nobody makes you use it — but on a fortnight with children, being able to make breakfast at six in the morning or a plate of pasta at nine at night changes the shape of the holiday.
It is also why a family fits into one booking rather than two rooms with a wall between them.
The two layouts
There are fourteen apartments, in two shapes.
- Studios, for two: one room with a double or two singles, and a kitchenette
- Two-bedroom apartments, for four: two separate rooms, a double and two singles, and a dining kitchen
- The Plus apartments in both sizes are the larger ones, and add a balcony with a sea view
What is in the kitchen
Enough to cook properly, not enough to run a restaurant. Every apartment has a fridge, an electric stove, a kettle and a coffee maker. The two-bedroom apartments have a dining kitchen rather than a kitchenette, which is the difference between eating at a table and eating on your lap.
Bed linen, towels and cleaning are included, so the kitchen is the only part of the stay you are running yourself.
Where to shop
There is enough within a few minutes' walk for a daily shop, restaurants and bars are 300 m away for the evenings you would rather not cook, and Lefkimmi — about 8 km — is where to go for a full weekly one.
Breakfast is served every morning either way, so the first meal of the day is never your problem.
